I'm currently working on one (a book) about Zorn. But, of course, if he doesn't approve my "prototype" (if you will), then I probably won't release it.
Why???!!! You don't need to agree with Zorn's vision or viceversa, imho. All you'd be doing is to shape your ideas on his music, I assume, and that's a totally subjective practice. As Zorn says in Heuermann's documentary, once a piece is composed, it turns into an autonomous entity, and it doesn't necessarily relate to what we think Zorn IS. It's just a piece of music and, as far as I'm concerned, you don't need anyone's approval to have an opinion on it. I look forward to reading it if you finally decide to put it out. There's another book, which I think it's oop, which was published by Materiali Sonori. It's title is "Itinerari oltre il suono: John Zorn". There are a couple of texts written by Zorn, a couple of interviews, some nice pictures, and a section on his Theater of Musical Optics, which takes too large a percentage of the book for my taste. I think I should do some work today.
