I'm not sure how popular the stuff you're looking for needs to be, but I'll submit a few: The Minutemen "Colors" - and tons more. "Joe McCarthy's Ghost" is a great one & it's timely all over again Creedence Clearwater Revival "Fortunate Son" The Dead C. "Power" Pretty much the whole Last Poets discography is a great way to ruin a first date. The Dixie Nightingales "The Assassination" - great song about JFK At 08:39 PM 4/10/2003 -0700, aurelio riley wrote:
this may not be what you're after but The Mothers Of Invention did a pretty good piece criticizing war toys back in 1966: Uncle Bernie's Farm, on the Absolutely Free album.
which reminds me...in my opinion the soundtrack to the antiwar media is not as awesome as it should be. when i turn on Pacifica radio, etc., too often it's either message-hip-hop or folkie protest stuff. not all of it is bad (some of it really is, though) but the overall blend gets monotonous. why can't these people who have critical political outlooks and take time to challenge the status quo do the same in their cultural/listening habits?

stands. I'm
not specifically interested in songs that reflect my own political views.
Some examples of songs that would work: Woody Guthrie, "Two Good Men" (on Sacco and Venzetti) the Ochs song mentioned above Bob Dylan, "Hurricane" CSNY, "Ohio"
Any more suggestions?
