Oops.  Like I said: I missed the original post.  Still, "Coming Through Slaughter" IS a pretty great book, and helped open the door for several subsequent novels that feature the same time and place (and music) such as Peter Everett's "Bellocq's Women," David Fulmer's "Chasing the Devil's Tail," etc etc.
