i've got that. it's insane. it also has a 200 page or so booklet with it too. it's lots of vocal tracks only, backing tracks, snippets, valiant/failed experiments, etc. along with a supposedly complete smile album.......which is less complete than the 2 disc version i also have, sporting a full length smile on disc one (complete with 15 min. version of good vibrations) and radio ads and other odds & ends on disc 2. before you jump to any conclusions, let me state that i worked in a record store for years, and got wayyyy too much stuff at wholesale or free that i wouldn't otherwise splurge on. There was a 4 CD box of Smile material released on the bootleg label Vigotone. I surmise they receive a cease and desist order as they are no longer available. However they do offer a 2 CD version and a 3 LP version. http://www.vigotone.com/vigotone/vigotone110-111.htm http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=MISS70305261853&sql=A4k1gtq9znu 44 Hope that helps. There are quite a few other Beach Boys boots offered by this "label." Zach
I always took for granted that the "Smile" album was given up by Brian Wilson after months of work and that some of those tracks were re-recorded and included in "Smiley Smile". I have read, though, that a "Smile Sessions" box set was released in the late eighties or early nineties. I've never seen that box set in the stores here, nor have I heard about someone owning it in my area.
