Secondly: aside for their mutual predilection for chiffon, I don't really see the comparison. Surely Bowie's more like Eddie Cantor (theatricality, multiple character persona) or Jolson (tendency towards the maudlin) or Bing (idiosyncratic balladeer -- and duet-mate!) or even Carmen Miranda.
