hi people
on the weekend, I saw the movie "La Planète sauvage" (The Fantastic Planet) 1973. http://imdb.com/title/tt0070544/
this movie is awesome & also had a great soundtrack or creepy sci-fi sounds! very minimal. the music was done by Alain Goraguer.
I urge people to see it if they already haven't.
This movie was directed by René Laloux, who unfortunately just passed away last week :( It is a great movie which visuals owe a lot to Roland Topor (I'm not sure whether he is credited in the movie, as he quit the production before the end) and is based on a book by Stephen Wul ("Ohms en série" being the French title). Lalous directed at least two other animated movies, "Les Maîtres du Temps" ("Masters of Time"?) and "Gandahar." I haven't seen the latter, but I can recommend the former, which was done in collaboration with Moebius (aka Jean Giraud).

And the soundtrack was sampled heavily by Madlib on his stunning Quasimoto "The Unseen" album on Stones Throw. The sound track to "La Planete Sauvage" is available & is as wonderful as ever, and the DVD is available in France. Gorageur used to be be Gainsbourg's musical arranger, working on the brilliant "Gainsbourg Percussions' amongst other albums. Phil
