i was just thinking how absurd this arguement about les claypool sounding identifiable in every project he's done. i mean what the hell is wrong with that?
It wasn't actually the argument, at least from my end. I wasn't questioning Claypool as a player, but his ideas, which are very much the same on every album he releases. On the other hand, when he collaborates with Tom Waits, for instance, he loses that personal sound of his, which doesn't make sense to me. Why should I call him to play in one of my albums if he performs like anyone else? Those were the arguments. Oh, btw, I've never been really impressed by that fast slapping techinque...
