Has anybody seen Fred frith play solo recently? Or maybe more specifically, since he released "Clearing"?
i've heard him playing solo about half a year ago. he played two sets, the first one was a bit noisy, but in the second set, he created a beautiful soundscape that later reminded me of "clearing". after the second set he didn't play an encore, telling the audience that everything that he could play as encore would destroy what he tried to create for the last hour... i think all the music was improvised, but i don't know for sure. but a few years ago i heard a radio broadcast of one of his solo concerts, playing "traffic continues". well, i wouldn't have recorgnize it, if it weren't said before...
