After the concert I was wondering, what is he talking about? He reunites his super group 10 years after they stopped playing, they play big festivals, obviously for big money. Then they present a greatest hit show and everyone is happy. Is that not a very "major" thing to do? where is the challenge? Dont get me wrong, I loved it, but i also needed an extra thrill from them.
Yes, it's funny. When Naked City first stopped playing Zorn made it very clear that he was tired of being a kind of "greatest hits" group with people requesting their favorites and so on. That's why I'd love to hear if there is any "official" explanation why they began playing again. I mean, if this was just a warm up thing for a new record of new material, I'd think it's pretty cool, but I doubt it. What I heard was that Tzadik is in big financial problems and Zorns old friends said they would help him out. First with the special Mori, Zorn, Patton limited disc, but apparantly that didn't sell well. As far as I remember, somebody said that Frisell actually didn't want to do it.
