Music at Castle Clinton: Cecil Taylor Castle Clinton Thursday, July 29, 2004 @ 7:00 PM Thursday, July 29, Castle Clinton in Historic Battery Park With tremendous energy and a percussive sound that is hailed as decades ahead of its time, Cecil Taylor is recognized as one the leading innovators in post-bebop Jazz. It is frequently said that his piano style is evocative of drum playing. The Alliance for Downtown New York, Inc. manages the Downtown-Lower Manhattan Business Improvement District (BID). The Downtown Alliance serves an area roughly from City Hall to the Battery, from the East River to West Street, for which it provides supplemental sanitation and security, economic development, streetscape and transportation improvements, marketing and enhanced tourist services. It is the mission of the Downtown Alliance to create and promote a safe, clean, live-work, totally wired community, which showcases the nation's most historic neighborhood and serves as the financial capital of the world for the twenty-first century. Music at Castle Clinton concerts are free. Tickets are required and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, two per person, at Castle Clinton starting at 5pm on concert day.
