In the amazon.com review they talk about pianist Craig Taborn and turntablist Jamie Saft. Is this correct? It's a pretty lackluster review any way, but it is Amazon.com. "With taste and wit, Douglas manages to make even nonjazz sounds seem jazzy, something Miles Davis also did very well."...hmmm...
Taborn and Saft both play keys on the disc, with Saft credited with loops and programming as well. No turntables on the disc, but I believe Douglas is touring with DJ Olive. They'll be in Eugene next week, and I'm planning on catching them. The disc is outstanding, it's virtually all I've listened to all week. Definitely more approachable than Witness, it has some of Douglas' nicest compositions to date, IMHO. The electronics are very tastefully done, these tunes could stand alone without the electronics, but they definitely add something cool to the arrangements.
