Hello, ...I have this, and it's a good one. The playing here by all members is powerful and assured, and the level of intimacy that is achieved is, for me quite impressive. It features four tracks, three long, one less so, and the nearly 70 minutes of playing time include flashes of intensity that remind me of Dolphy, Ornette, and Ayler, though the overall thrust of the music doesn't (for me, anyway) sit under the umbrella of any one specific improviser for very long. Raskin plays alto and baritone sax, and the sopranino, Berne plays alto, Michael Formanek is on bass, and Elliot Kavee plays drums and cello. Personal highlights include Formanek's sweet bass solo opening to "The Third Path to No Where", Berne's alto throughout, and the wickedly well-controlled escalation of skronk that hits about 5 minutes into the title track. Raskin's playing on all horns is excellent. Kavee's drums and cello stand out, also. In addition, the release has some good notes by writer Nathaniel Mackey. Highly recommended. I remain...
