i'm surprised no one's had a single good word to say about 'odelay'. i'm not a huge beck fan, but i think it's by far his best album. way, way better in my estimation than the faux-lugubrious 'sea change' or the insufferable prince-lite 'midnite vultures'. -----Original Message----- From: Toby Dodds [mailto:toby@dodds.org] Sent: Thursday, November 13, 2003 5:14 PM To: zorn-list@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: beck (as nick drake) (Joseph Zitt) Sea Change is one of my favorite listens these days. The Nigel Goodrich production is Spectoresque, beautiful string arrangements and old school tektronics are brilliantly combined. There is definitely a spirit to the record that reminds me of Apple studio projects like Nicky Hopkins's Tin Man Was a Dreamer or George Harrison's All Things Must Pass. I think it's probably my favorite Beck effort - but I am not a big fan of his white funk schtick.
