Could anyone here recommend good quality, as well as inexpensive CD Burners?
Two things restored my faith in technology last year (okay, three, but one was the Playtex baby bottle with disposable liners, so that doesn't exactly count): - the Sonicblue RioVolt mp3 cd player, - and the Plextor Plexwriter 121032A internal CD-rewritable drive. I've burned maybe about 500 CDs on it and it is absolutely rock-solid. The only coasters I've produced were because of mistakes like forgetting to turn off the graphics card-intensive screensavers. (A few times I would get the blue screen of death while I was burning a CD (most likely due to Win98-related software), I would "press any key to continue," and the drive would magically continue to burn the CD successfully, exactly where it left off -- sometimes 9 hours after I first started.) I've owned a couple of HPs before, and they were either dead in the water or simply plagued with errors. The Plexwriter (about $140 at Amazon, but I'm sure you can get it for way less now) is simply stellar -- one of the very few times I fiddle with computer-related hardware and I go, "Damn, these people are doing something right."
