Another turntablist of note is Janek Schaefer, who participated in the last Whitney biennial as a sculptor for his three-armed 'Tri-Phonic' turntable. I listened today to his recent live recording, Petit Theatre de Mercelis, with a live mix by electronics composer Leo Kupper. Fabulous soundscape with lots of loops made from the vinyl dead space outside the tracks, along with other droney soundscapes. Highly recommended. -- Caleb Deupree cdeupree@erinet.com
