Are you really that surprised that there are people out there who don't know every cd by our great hero? I have long come to the point where I can say: no, I haven't heard this Barbican cd, and I won't know if I will hear it in the next two years! And yep, still a Zorn fan.
Bit of confusion here: there's no Barbican CD (unless someone's bootlegged it) - I was talking about Zorn's performance of "The Gift" at the Barbican and how it was virtually a note-for-note copy of "The Gift" CD. In some areas of music this might be a plus, but not here.
But there's so much going on Zorn-wise.
Fair point. But considering that people had mentioned that they'd ordered/received copies of Hemopheliac, I assumed that there were some people who might have an opinion on the music contained therein. And I know, I should have one too - maybe when I get home (in a couple of days) I'll try again, but I was so dispirited with the first spin that I hoped someone could encourage me (or not) to put in another 2 hours listening to it properly.
