kayo dot release/also maudlin of the well?

what do people think of the kayo dot release - the samples I've heard sound interesting, although they haven't really given me an idea of what the 'metal' aspects of this recording are? And for those who do like this release, how does it compare to maudlin of the well (to which I am also unitiated)? nathan Great recommendation on the stickmen by the way! Does anyone interested in gang of four also have an affinity for the Big Boys.
