I was just listening this weekend to Painkiller's "Talisman" & have to say I
think this album shows Zorn's BEST sax playing!!
Yeah, we know he does all these honks & squeals & squeaks, which is "yeah,
yeah" after a bit, but on this CD he does some stuff I can't recall him
doing before, like in Masada, NC, or other stuff. Don't get me wrong, I
enjoy all his playing in the projects I mention earlier... I just think this
CD is a standout for him.
I'm mainly talking about his really fast bebop-esque stuff on here. lines, I
haven't heard him do much/before... he does some serious 'shredding' :)
he also does this very high pitched continuous squeal with these rhythmical
honks - it's really cool.
anyway, just thought I'd share that...
