what
he said....and don't sleep on the '69 Los Angeles Sessions'...very tasty and
atypically succinct jams. essential.
all I have is a fela kuti greatest hits record, any
suggestions for
essential Fela albums to check out?
Personal
faves include Sorrow, Tears and Blood, Zombie, ITT and Coffin Head of State.
Most of the albums are doubled up on CD, which helps, but Fela put out a lot
of product over the years. Its all consistently high in quality, but, and
don't get me wrong this is not a criticism, variety is not the key. The Wire
did an excellent overview on him last year (Issue 234) which is worth
checking, rule of thumb is that more essential his work the greater
consternation it caused the government.
