Good article, thanks for the link. I have a couple of Area cd's and I'm very impressed with them. I think of them more in the RIO vein then straight prog or fusion, and they use a very eclectic mix of styles. The article doesn't mention that they also have a live album featuring Steve Lacy and Paul Lytton, which definitely makes them fodder for Zorn list fans. philz ==================================================================== Squidco The Squid's Ear http://www.squidco.com/ http://www.squidsear.com/ just in: Fred Frith - Prints; Dockstader/Reicher - Omniphony; Les Poules; Frith/Dermome/Tanguay/Boisen; Bob Ostertag; ==================================================================== On 1/30/03 11:14 AM, "jason tors" <jasontors@yahoo.com> wrote:
hello all, was checking out this reviewhttp://www.pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/a/area/revolution.shtml
I really tend to want to pick up anything that this guy reviews, a nice departure from the mainstream of pitchfork writers.
Can anyone second Area as essential to pick up? I am not a prog freak, but I do appreciate drawing on lots of music, I never listen to lyrics either. Just wondering if I should drop the 40+ bucks on this box set.
thanks
