I haven´t heard New Grass so far but all I know about it I think it´s the same vein. Of course I prefer Ayler´s stuff with Cherry, Peacock etc. but as you say "rough playing over a groovy rythm section could be fascinating" and that´s what you hear on this recently reissued midprice CD. Hi,
np: Albert Ayler - Music Is The Healing Force (Impulse)
What does this sound like? I absolutely love all the stuff I've heard from Ayler but I'm not sure with this one. There are vocals indicated in the back of the Cd and I'm afraid it could be in the same soul/R&B-infected vein as "New Grass", from which I've only read negative things (although you never know, of course). I don't mind if it sounds like soul or R&B at all, what's more, I'd really like to hear AA in such an environment, that rough playing over a groovy rythm section could be fascinating. Any indications would be highly appreciated.
All the best,
Efrén del Valle
