Hello, ....I started buying compact discs around 1989 and have since accumulated around 2,000. I started buying LPs about three years prior and now have over 4,000. The first CDs that I bought were cheapo John Coltrane and Elmore James compilations. I still have the Coltrane (it includes a killer live version of "MR. PC"). The first two LPs that I owned (both were gifts) were "Led Zep II" and Sabbath's "Paranoid". I can't remember the first LP that I bought with my own cash, though I suspect it was a compilation of 60s psyche-rock hits. I've never been a big buyer of cassettes--I have about 200, though I've lost/given away/upgraded/lent out and been burned on about 100 various tapes. If I have something I really like on tape I usually try to improve on it to either LP or disc (two exceptions would be Cage's "Four Walls" and Heiner Goebbels' "The Man in the Elevator"), unless it was only released on tape, natch. I've about 500 7" records, mostly indie stuff. VHS tapes total just over 200, many bought at these "3 for $5" video store blowout sales where I once scored Kurosawa's "Red Beard", Kusturica's "Underground", Godard's "Hail Mary" and "Detective", Jarmusch's "Dead Man" (Letterboxed!!), and Bunuel's "The Exterminating Angel" for a mere sawbuck. That was a great day. I have only 24 DVDs (I'm not counting "The NBA Finals Greatest Moments"). I have no idea how many books are in this joint.
