I'm pretty sure that I remember reading about someone doing a record of silence in the Guinness Book of World Records when I was a kid (mid 70's). I forget exactly what the title of the (world) record was, but I remember the book commenting on the popularity of the thing. In jukeboxes, I think. Wonder how often they had to replace the worn out 7"es? The first release by Coil featured a silent B-side. I think the copy I had (sold off ages ago) had no groove (and playing time listed as a figure-eight in resting position), however according to the Laylah label discog. at http://home.planet.nl/~frankbri/crerest1.html#laylah playing time was 0:00. The discog. says: LAY 5 COIL How To Destroy Angels Apr 84 12": BE 1984 (Laylah LAY 5) 17:00 How To Destroy Angles 0:00 Absolute Elsewhere - The B-side can't be played but receives publishing royalties, and comes in 3 different forms: unplayable groove, no groove, groove/no music. ****
claiming you nicked?'. They say they are claiming copyright on a piece of mine called 'One Minute's Silence' on the Planets' album, which I credit Batt/Cage just for a laugh. But my silence is original silence, not a quotation from his silence."
Oh, well, duh. Estates tend to toward the humorless. Probably would have been better to clear the joke before giving the estate an easy in. Alexander -- Radio Khartoum http://www.radiokhartoum.com
