in unrelated but related inquiries, has anyone heard Anton Fier's first(?) band The Feelies? AMG raves about their first album and I am thinking about tracking it down, but I was thinking about maybe getting a different opinion. and how is Fier pronounced correctly? fee-AIR? fee-AY? thanks!
-adam morosky<< it's bookish post-Velvets guitar pop/rock, and highly recommended. Anton's contribution is a major part of the proceedings, and I think a big factor in their posthumous reputation. Playing the LP, I can easily imagine a packed, sweaty club being MOVED by this stuff. They can really cook at times, and at other moments can put together a song like "Moscow Nights" that's as pretty as it is rocking. "Crazy Rhythms" is a record that pretty much always stays downstairs in my house, since whenever I decide to refile my LPs upstairs a few times a year I end up playing this one for a few days. So it stays close to the stereo. Right now it's on the stereo. Joseph NP: see above NR: Graham Greene- "The Heart of the Matter"
