RE: drummers

Damon Che, the backbone of instrumental post-rockers Don Caballero is probably the most impressive drummer I've heard, period. Other drummers I love: John McEntire. He backs the sea and cake like he's backing a hardcore band, not a schmaltzy lite-lounge-pop combo. And in Tortoise, he's not afraid to dice up, re-program, squash, filter, crunch, and generally fuck up his drum sounds. I love it. Susie Ibarra- she can do the McNasty on the standard kit, but when she brings in the Kulingtang, everything gets gorgeous. andrew
