it seems to me, that to proclaim neptunes etetera as "innovative" smacks of sheer ignorance. all of the beats produced by anticon (jel, odd nosdam, alias) or plague language (orphan), render the 'boom-bap simplicity' philosophy quite redundant.

and the same can be said of MCs. it irritates me that when i tell people that i listen to some hip-hop, it is things like eminem or black-eyed peas they immediately imagine. the possibilities of rythmic word play are only now being charted. i will be very surprised if doseone ( of themselves, cLOUDDEAD etc) does not fast become one of the most important artists of recent times. not to mention other MCs really streatching the medium: Sage Francis, Noah23, and, most recent effort excluded, Aesop Rock.
