I run a small store of the CD Warehouse franchise in marietta, georgia which is about 30 minutes out of atlanta in a typical suburban utopia. As a CD Warehouse we as a franchise are allowed to operate independently and carry what we please so we are pretty much a independent store.
Anyways....my point is..I think that alot of small independents are scared to carry the stuff that we are all talking about on here with the exception of the occasional naked city record.
I went out on a limb a year ago and started carring Tzadik stuff (mainly so I could get the wholesale cost for myself) and the shit sold really quick! It only takes people hearing stuff and they open thier eyes to music. This may not seem like alot but I never would have thought I would be able to move 5 - 8 Tzadik titles a week here in suburban atlanta.
Most popular discs so far have been - Bar Kokhba (of course), Masada String Trio, Rob Burger - Lost Photograph, Zorn - Big Gundown, Godard/Spillane, Elegy.
