So I'm flipping through a Time magazine at the Honda service waiting room, and I come across this comment in Josh Tyrangiel's review of a crop of "standards" albums ...
"Rather than fit his classic R+B voice into the dull formalism of Burt Bacharach's songs, Ronald Isley spirits away the songwriter's greatest hits to slow jam land ..." (all of which is intended as compliment to Isley; that said, I think I'll probably pick up the album)
Is there some kind of neo-anti-Bacharach backlash that I missed somewhere along the way?
