Unless they changed the packaging after Dave showed it to me many weeks ago, the extra track is listed in very tiny print on the back cover, after the record company boilerplate info. You may need a magnifying glass! It's one of two tracks on 'Freak In' actually recorded by the post-Witness touring band with Taborn and Sarin. Dereck Phillips is best known for his work with Greg Osby and Vijay Iyer. Dave told me he was really psyched to play with him. If anyone is still interested in reading more about 'Freak In,' I've stumbled upon an "article" at jazzreview.com that's actually a truncated and slightly bastardized version of the official press bio I wrote for RCA. It's mostly accurate, though they cut out some of the best bits, my opening paragraph is now the fifth paragraph... and I would never, EVER have used the word "jazztronica": http://www.jazzreview.com/articledetails.cfm?ID=1291 (I might have taken offense that this "article" carries a byline, except that I notice the e-mail link for said "article" goes to the address "newmedia.rcavictor (at) bmg.com." Misleading, but presumably well within their rights.) Steve Smith ssmith36@sprynet.com NP - Hank Mobley, "Soul Stationm" 'Soul Station' (Blue Note RVG)
