Wynton Marsalis

On the Zornlist this will probably taken as an outbreak of hostilities but I think the band Marsalis has on Live at Blue Alley is a really great group with exceptional playing. There is nothing challenging and everybody stays firmly within the tradition that Marsalis upholds but it is a fine swinging band. I can't stand the sermonising and will never forgive him for aiding and abetting Ken Burns in the TV series but he can certainly play. The Penguin Guide rates the Live at the Village Vanguard Box Set very highly and the price is good. Will anybody own up to having listened to this? Is it worth getting? Cheers Richard Gardner
