ya, i didn't actually miss your point. i was just pointing out that it _is_
possible to like both artists.
it is definitely a sad state of affairs that even tower, which used to have
a decent jazz selection, has gone down the toilet. i used to 'troll' for
stuff there many years ago. now, what with the lack of selection and prices
at $16.99-$18.99...forget it!
when i'm looking for a more 'diverse' selection i don't even thing of going
there. my 'local' mom & pop store is Bull Moose Music over in portsmouth,
nh. it's the amoeba records of the seacoast.

the problem is that the retailers rarely see it that way. Most jazz on indie
labels gets returned (to the distributor) rather quickly, except at your
really good mom and pop's and a few bigger stores where jazz has some kind
of bigger role in the community.
