Kevin/Skip et. al. I hate to disagree with Skip, but while it may be "impossible to find a bad Hag album", he's certainly made many that aren't as good as others. AS a rule of thumb, I'd start with the Capitol releases -- Okie From Muskogee being a particular favorite -- then go to the MCA material and finally the stuff on CBS/Sony. i forgot to mention in my post that i am indeed familiar with Merle Haggard. my problem with the guy is, he's a tough nut to collect cuz he's released TONS of stuff. hard to know where to start with him. i WILL look into that 4CD set though...
It's impossible to find a bad Hag album, but the 4 disc set is definitely the way to start.
