Okay, few more examples. I would never guess that Bruce Willis is a Republican from the movies he makes. I think he makes strong choices and performs well, and I still think so, even though I know he's a Republican.
Yeah, point understood. But I get a nasty taste in my mouth when the rare situation occurs where the imprisoned Charles Manson ends up being a millionaire right there in his cell, just because some poser rock group (Guns & Roses) covers one of his songs on a million seller album. Even if you're into cult killers (how engaged!), home taping and video trading would be the way to avoid awkward situations like these. Talking politics in culture will continue to evolve in a fairly academic discussion, as long as you keep the 'culture industry' out of it. However small royalties are, people do get rich from them (sometimes). Though only a few of us Zornlisters will own the cd-single by the pope. This was by no means a hit, but sales must have exceeded those of the whole Tzadik catalogue. Same will apply for Osama when releasing a 'song'. The market is so big here, were not talking avant garde s(c)ales. But then again, buying Charles Manson songs out of curiosity, or checking the music by the pope or Osama, would not be the same as buying guns in order to party around on some children's playground around the corner.
