Bit of a belated response, but anyway... Off Note have a website here: http://www.offnote.com/ They do claim to do online ordering, so it might be worthwhile dropping them a line. The mechanics of dealing with the smaller Japanese labels can be difficult though, as they rarely take credit cards and haven't heard of Paypal. But as a label, Off Note tend to keep stuff in print, and both of the Umezu things still seem to be available. For what's worth, here are the catalogue numbers: First Deserter is ON-07, and Pandoras Cocktail is ON-35. There's a few other nice things on the label - a release by Compostela (who had a Tzadik outing a few years ago), lots of obscure Okinawan stuff, various things involving Japanese free(ish) pianist Harada Yoriyuki, a blasting quartet record with Mikami Kan... The label's email is: info@offnote.com Alan
it´s on a label called OFF NOTE. I´m searching for this release for years without success. I think it´s only released in Japan without distribution anywhere...
I´ve seen the Eclecticism band around 10 years ago at the Saalfelden festival - absolutely killer!

np: Susie Ibarra - Songbird Suite (Tzadik)
speaking of ribots funky playing I recently rediscovered kozutoki umezus recordings w/ ribot (eclecticism, first deserter and pandoras cocktail) which are all great. I can recommend these albums to anyone who wants to hear ribot as a sideman pick up a telecaster (if so) in contrast to the zorn sideman stuff. I think pandoras cocktail is very hard to get. It features wollesen, ribot and brad jones playing some cool tunes. ribot plays jazzy solos, twangy notes and umezus playing is entertaining in a very positive way. So, has anyone seen mr. umezu perform somewhere? Is kiki his current band, what are they like?
