I checked them out in montreal a while ago, been meaning to pick up something of theirs but I wanted to get opinions on the list.
It can't just be coincidence that you're mentioning this now. You must know they're playing tonight (8th) in Montral at Club Soda? Or perhaps not, and you don't even live there... They just played an excellent gig in Toronto on Tuesday!
anyone with any opinions on the essential blonde redhead album?
Essential? Hmmm. Folks could argue about this one. Don't know if any are truly essential, but I quite dig the last two, "Misery Is A Butterfly" (w/ Eyvind Kang & Skuli Sverrisson) and "Melody Of Certain Damaged Lemons", which I think stand out from their earlier records. The mid period LPs have some excellent songs along with some filler... "In An Expression Of The Inexpressible" and "Fake Can Be Just As Good" being the matching pair here. The first two records show their origins & influences. "Blonde Redhead" & "La Mia Vita Violenta" are both on Smells Like, and are quite good... possibly the place to start, although I'd say the same about the two most recent LPs. -Patrick NP: Savina Yannatou & Primavera en Salonico - "Terra Nostra" OD: Madvillain - "Madvillainy" [Doom tore it up last night! J-Dilla and Madlib came through in spots. Egon & PBWolf spun some killer rare funk. Visuals were "Space Is The Place" & "La plante sauvage". Nice!]
