I don't know where those conclusions were taken from. A lot of rock and pop bands and musicians have been discussed here largerly and repeatedly, anything from The Beach Boys to Sonic Youth, Elvis Costello, Lou Reed or Messhuggah, to name only a few, and some of these examples are clearly radio-friendly at their own level. I'm a FNM fan and I've been following Patton's stuff since the early nineties, but I still think that Tomahawk is his weakest project to date (although it's not exactly his brainchild). I didn't have a chance to listen to "Mit Gas" but it's not like I'm really looking forward to it either, which doesn't imply any straight-ahead-rock dismissal at all. What are you talking about? I can still enjoy
1. King For A Day - FNM 2. The Wall - Pink Floyd 3. Tin Machine - Tin Machine 4. almost anything by Rush 5. Time's up - Living Colour
more too, those are just a few.
I can listen to almost anything by Living Colour, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Pre-1984 Rush, Rage Against the Machine, Black Sabbath, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Matthew Sweet, pre-"For Those About To Rock" AC/DC, David Lee Roth-era Van Halen, Rollins Band and pre-1980 Queen without getting sick.
I don't know about this "rock" think, but I sure do like rock-n-roll and some radio-friendly metal. Why not?
