i recently had the pleasure to spend the afternoon with an ex-designer of rolling stone during the early 1980's to mid-1990's. i shared my distaste for the recent years and while she agreed, she explained that the magazine has recently switched hands again and is now being run by a former glamour magazine head. hence the content of fashion and looks over music. its quite unfortunate since i do remember being excited to receive rolling stone (i still do, but only since my folks continue to renew the subscription for me. if i had my way i would transfer that money towards some new design/art magazines and out there music mags) when i was younger. these days i flip the pages, read what catches my eye and unfortunately it rests right where it should... by the toilet. -darryl. <<<That's an interesting question. What were the RS' best years? Is there an (online-)history or article about the magazine's different phases?
