Seiichi Yamamoto has a lot of side projects during these years. I'm not sure where the guy lives, but here in Osaka, he seems to get the call to play along with almost every interesting musician who cruises through town: I've seen him listed on handbills for Diskaholics Anonymous (O'Rourke/Gustafsson/Moore) shows once or twice, he was one of the opening acts when Han Bennink played in Kyoto in May (and Eye was also there in a gawdawful DJing capacity), etc., etc. My personal favourite over the last year or so has been his new band with Phew, MOST... fast, spunky punk stuff that was limited to hell and back during mastering, making their one album so far easily the loudest-sounding CD I own. There's some decent footage of one of their performances from last summer on Phew's retrospective video collection that was put out by... um... I forget who now, but it wasn't hellishly expensive or tough to find a couple of months ago.
As to EYE, I think he is more interested in being a DJ now. Unfortunately. I had never been in pain as the result of a DJ set before the Bennink show, but Eye apparently wanted to kill the audience that night... the sounds of trees being cut down were cranked out over the PA for about half an hour, and every time the wood splintered, the volume was cranked up to the point where it actually *hurt* my ears. I believe I muttered the word "asshole" several times during that set.
ah, c'mon Taylor. EYE is a inverionmental(sp?) activist and is trying to give the audience a anti-chopping/burning down the rainforests-statement thru his music. believe me, if the rainforest disappears, i'm sure yr whole carcass will hurt. save the rainforest! yer ears ain't hurting nothing compared to the tree when it gets chopped down. GO DJ EYE! (i wish he would tour Scandinavia)
