Hello Thierry,
The man doesn't like the pictures to be taken during the shows apparently because of destruction of the music made by clicks and flashes. Being a person with camera myself, I can easily understand this feeling of hatred, when somebody pops up in front of the musicians and the audience and starts to take noisy pictures flashing the bright light into their eyes. There are only few people who are trying to do such thing in the clubs like Tonic, where both the artists and the listeners are generally very friendly. However, at the big concert halls and fancier clubs there are lots of jerks who don't care. That's where Zorn's temper is going against the photographers. Recently I even got a permission to take pictures unless I do not jump up and down during the sets, do not use flash and do not make noticeable clicks. I took several pictures at Tonic last Saturday and there was not a problem. I think it is fair, because first of all people came to listen to music and not to hang out with a star.
I perfectly understand this point of view. Besides I think that when you take a picture, you're less focused on the music and that's too bad... -- Thierry
