I'd go to the archives for this, but I don't think it's been covered all that recently... Would anybody care to recommend favorite Merzbow recordings? After years of apprehensive ignorance (less apprehensive of the content than the risk of initiating another expensive collecting habit), I finally caught Merzbow last Saturday night at Tonic, sandwiched between an opening set by Borbetomagus and an after hours set by Burkhard Stangl & dieb13 (whose new 'eh' on Erstwhile is wonderful, BTW). The 'Merzbox' aside (obviously!), which in-print Merzbow recordings provide a good introduction to his recorded work? And which rarities are worth stalking eBay for? Or is Merzbow simply better experienced live? Steve Smith ssmith36@sprynet.com NP - Evan Parker & Paul Lytton, "Shaker," 'Collective Calls (Urban) (Two Microphones)' (Psi)
