ipod battery

I got a 30gig ipod this summer, needless to say its amazing and probably the first inanimate thing I would save from a burning building/house. I heard something about a street campaign in nyc regarding the ipod battery. This one guy was pissed off because apple upgraded the ipod battery but did not make this available for replacement under the warranty at the time.
