NP: Slogun - "Written In Blood"
* "Benito Vergara" <bvergara@sfsu.edu>:
How is this, by the way? I've been listening to a lot of Whitehouse lately and I've heard Slogun mentioned along with them.
Well, if you like Whitehouse (and folks like Sutcliffe Jugend, Con-Dom, Anenzephalia, Dagda Mor, Genocide Organ, Taint... stuff on Tesco, Cold Meat, Old Europa Cafe... as well as the harsher Jap noise stuff, you should definitely enjoy Slogun (John Balistreri, nice guy from Brooklyn). Easily one of the recent highlights of the modern PE scene, and by far the best in the US these days. He's got a pretty big following, and the Germans, French, Italians Swedes & Brits (who normally head this "scene") seem to love him. If you dig serial killers & true crime studies there's a wealth of info just waiting for you...
Any easy-to-find recommendations for a first-time listener?
See http://www.slogun.com for a discography, and info. Pretty much everything out on disc now is excellent, but a few are oop already ("Written In Blood", "Tearing Up Your Plans" etc.) I would say you should try and grab the "...Kill To Forget" CD on Jinx (in print, available from peeps like Self Abuse, Malignant etc.), which is a quality introduction. Enjoy! -Patrick NP: Kathleen Edwards - "Failer"
