I was blown away at the same time, maybe even the same tour... maybe even the same venue, it was the knitting factory old office in nyc. And it was because of hyping on the zornlist. I was really intimidated by him, the music, everything. I was taking some covert pictures and afterwards [buying discretion] he kind of chewed me out for not asking permission. In reality I thought he was the lighting technician [was fiddling with the lights for a while before the show] It was my first time hearing jim and chris as well. The thing that drew me in was in all the free & out of bloodcount there was always this implied groove, this funkiness. The next few weeks I would listen to bloodcount:discretion on the discman while riding my bike around lower nyc and brooklyn. Nothing made me ride faster. jt
My own 'blown away' experience happened at a live show in 1997. I had never heard them (or anythign by berne) before, but the zorn list was buzzing with talk about how great bloodcount was, so when i saw an announcement in the local paper, i went (and dragged 5 or 6 friends along). There were maybe 15 people there, and Berne began the festivites by telling everyone, in no uncertain terms, to be quiet.
