Btw, What does lister think of Cale? I've really gotten into his (stylistically erradic) solo work as of late.<
....Cale's "Paris 1919" is one of my favorite records. I've always thought that it could have been more popular, had more ears been exposed to it. Much of the record is soft, even gentle at times, and the rocking numbers aren't the type that get under people's skin (at least not the ones I've played it for). Lyrics like "Nothing frightens me more/than religion at my door" aren't really conducive to pop chart action, but I've still only met one person in my geographic area that knows this record. Should be more, I think. I've heard that members of Little Feet play on this record, but I could be mistaken. I also like "Vintage Violence", "Fear", "Sabotage", and "Honi Soit" to varying degrees. Have yet to hear the recent CDs of the '60s stuff, and haven't heard "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" or most of the '80s releases. Remember liking someone else's copy of "Songs for Drella", but probably 12 years have passed since. I remain....
