The last album I bought with the masses was Radiohead's 'Kid A.' I eventually sold it - because I realize that I like Thom Yorke's voice and I like the band's melodies - but it doesn't grab me emotionally. It was pretty music - but for me it didn't have that edge. Or it wasn't twisted enough for my taste. So, the only artist I would buy now that is sort of big (at least he has a sizable cult) is Morrissey. I for sure will be one of those who will buy the new album when it first comes out.
My own tastes tend to run more in this direction than anywhere near any kind of metal or nu-metal or rap-metal - none of which I can stand - so let me just say....Lloyd Cole, Lloyd Cole, Lloyd Cole - particularly Love Story. The best unknown singer/songwriter. Dale.
