It's probably sacrilege to dis the Who so soon after the great John Entwistle's death but I have always been baffled by "Tommy"'s popularity.  There are some wonderful songs but it doesn't hang together as a whole, for me.  I have The Who's "BBC Sessions" in work today.  Can't wait for "Boris The Spider."

Long live rock,
Tom

The Who -- Tommy (am I the only one who thinks the premise of this
pretentious "rock opera" is just plain silly?)

As much as I like this, in retrospect with what Townshend went on to do (especially the later solo stuff) "pretentious" is completely understandable.

Dale.
