Hi to all here Vel Net, label specialized in HQ new music. We have released the Nico Girasole's cd "Et Nico" and we want give you some information about this work. Apologies in advance to those who will get this more than once. Nico Girasole is an author/musician of surprising talent. It's impossible to include only in a genre his music which is archaic and modern at the same time, dreamy, mysterious as an ancient ritual but also playful. Georges Markakis (Radio Flash Athens) wrote: "Nico Girasole was a sweet surprise for me to be honest. I am going to play the songs "Gnotiseauton" and others of course and play it beside Jordi Savall's work / I think they fit with each other little bit..." Although "Et Nico" comes out with his first release and his name is utterly new to the international public, he has been a mature artist for long. He has written music for theatre collaborating with several companies in Europe alternating to this activity some incursions in different art's sector. Himself says in an interview by the journalist Antonella Gaeta (Repubblica): " The time is a discontinuous experience and in the meanwhile a thousand things happen...". The recording of "Et Nico" took three years, essentially to form the musicians ensemble fit to live play so delicate and rich music. Having worked for a long time in our studio, we recorded in a little country church completely live in order to render the experience we lived. Here are some comments about "Et Nico": " Girasole's music is a rich and intimate sort of chamber music, with influences stretching from east to west (but still unmistakably Italian), from ancient to modern, and meeting somewhere in between.... The music quiet and lyrical, the acoustic instruments mingle in movements that are in turns sensitive and bold, meditative and dramatic..." Richard di Santo (Incursion Magazine) "The sounds float in a way with shaded colors of oriental flavor from which strange objects of the memory appear: quotations and allusions to music loved by the author, even Habanera of Ravel and Fleurette africaine of Ellington ... are notes for an imaginary travel, jotted down by a man who mockingly declares " I have never been beyond Corfu" and plays with the false and the likely, searching a very elusive truth..." Fabrizio Versienti (Corriere del Mezzogiorno) "Et Nico" is the fulfilment of a possible "happy Babele" populated by poetic impulses and breaths, spots of sound and minimum theatre. Hypothesis of journey which Pessoa would have liked: made of pauses and renewals as travellers able to wander with own memory beyond the body... Giuseppe De Trizio (Cupa Cupa) "The cd finds its concrete identity far from Battiato's or Jocelyn Pook's esotericisms" Piercarlo Poggio (Blow Up) "Piccola Sosta Del Circo Macedone", seems composed of spashes of irony and amusement ... At once I though of Emir Kusturica..." Marco Delsoldato (Suburbia magazine) " Sixsteen incursions around the world, sixsteen placid and sunny watercolours... To listen to with your eyes closed" Carlo Crudele (Musicboom) To listen to and to have other information about Nico Girasole's "Et Nico" you can visit Vel Net's web site and Cdbaby that chosen to insert it on its front page in these days.
