Has anyone seen/heard the Beresford/Toop/Zorn et.al recording "Deadly Weapons" on Nato? I just procured it from someone and was wondering how hard it is to find (I've never seen it before)
That's been out of print for quite a while now. It was released on the French Nato label, with whom Zorn maintained a brief relationship during the late eighties. "Godard" was actually released for the first time in a compilation from that label called "Godard, ça vous chanté?" (or something like that, no French knowledge sorry).
Some of the music was really ambient in a kind of psychotic fashion (I thought of music that might be played at a nature / discovery center store with many more disturbed undertones)
Other parts were jazzy and fun. I'm glad to have found it.
I never really liked, despide of the "undersigning" musicians and I actually got rid of it recently. I find it pretty lame and it sounds outdated, as opposed to the rest of Zorn's discography.
