Hi folks, thought this major Seattle music event would be of interest to some of you. Both performances are going to be professionally multitracked for later release (hey label people! take note! "V" is shopping for a home! ;-) so all will be able to hear what went down in due time. The "V" orchestra is led by guitarist Timothy Young (Zony Mash, Wayne Horvitz, etc.) and keyboardist Paul Moore (Very Special Forces, etc.). Pass the word along!!! :-) Here's the press release. If you have any general questions, or would simply like to get in touch with Timothy or Paul, simply drop me a line at squeegeemedia@comcast.net (instead of contacting the overworked PR manager listed below! ;-) ~ Sincerely, James Kirchmer ~ ======= Contact: Sara Edwards, PR Manager OtB: 206/217-9886 x1016 or Cell: 206/914-7272 Email: sara@ontheboards.org http://www.ontheboards.org ON THE BOARDS PRESENTS SEATTLE MUSIC COLLECTIVE ON THE MAINSTAGE 30+ Musicians share the stage for 2 nights only (Oct. 24-25, 2003) (Seattle, WA) - On the Boards (OtB) presents V, a self-described "psychedelic orchestra," led by local musicians Timothy Young and Paul Moore for a two-night engagement, October 24-25 at 9 p.m. Young and Moore wrote, composed, arranged and orchestrated an evening-length piece entitled "The Fool" - and solicited a group of 30+ Seattle musicians and vocalists to join them in presenting this full-length work. This new group of songs lyrically explores aspects of the fool archetype, including historical references, perspectives on current events, and explorations of foolers and those that are fooled. Led by Moore on keyboard and lead vocals, and Young on guitar and lead vocals, the orchestra includes strings, woodwinds, brass, a five piece rhythm section, and small choir. The result is an eclectic sound and experience, described by Moore and Young as being 'in the spirit' of The Flaming Lips, Neil Young, The Polyphonic Spree, Charles Ives, Os Mutantes and Stravinsky. Says artistic director Lane Czaplinski of his decision to program V: "When OtB's founders gathered with the current board and staff a month ago to take a look at OtB's history, it was reaffirming to hear about punk rock concerts presented in the early days, alongside the new theater, music, and multimedia performances they were bringing to Washington Hall. With regard to V, I think the size of the collective, and the grandeur of the music, lends itself to a listening environment, more so than a club. With this performance, we hope to tap into a local creative aesthetic and the vibrancy in the Seattle music community."
