Politics in some artist/music-oriented context is fine with me. So much art (bad art, IMO) is injected with politics. But I do resent the absolute bull$*&% brain-washed idea that there is ONE "good" acceptable stance on the idea of war?! Yeah, we can all hold hands and agree war SUCKS but doesn't evey living thing on this f'ing planet have to fight and kill at some point during the day/month/year, etc.?! I do not believe in the abstract, supernatural human-created concept of 'PEACE.' It does not exist in the natural world in our particular planet!! Point to it- SHOW IT TO ME!! It can apply to a mind-state or art and music but not reality, in my opinion. While we might momentarily enjoy "peace" some jerk is being dipped in acid or tortured or oppressed somewhere on the planet! Does that qualify as 'peace?' Then, I consider myself anti-peace! By the way, I consider myself as 'undecided' regarding the war with Iraq but I believe you HAVE to use hyper psychotic, threatening rhetoric to at least avoid conflict momentarily. Doesn't every animal have to snarl, roar or ruffle its feathers to deter agressors or predators? I refuse to believe the human species is genetically capable of being any different. On the other hand, I personally enjoy violent, insane art (specifically music and film) more than the sedate, 'peaceful' soothing kind. Sorry for the rant...

Please, show me one other thing on the planet that composes and/or improvises music with intentional design; perhaps we should give it a miss? Can't be quite natural enough for us, perhaps. Cheers, Allan. E Endless returning, endless revolution of dream to ember, ember to anguish, anguish to flame, flame to delight, delight to dark and dream, dream to ember. Denise Levertov Sessionographies of McCoy Tyner, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, a range of jazz resources, photographs, sociology of the art links, and with more go to up there: http://www.kyushu-ns.ac.jp/~allan/ Any information heartily appreciated, merci, arigato, graci, thanks.
